Amazing Layla McCarter was inducted into the California Boxing Hall of Fame on October 22, 2016.  Jim Fitzgerald and Sue Fox introduced the SIX TIME world champion out of Alameda, California.  Layla currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada and usually trains at the Mayweather Boxing Club.  In the ring, she displays incredible balance, technique, timing, and footwork. Outside of it, Layla is thoughtful, humorous, humble, and intelligent.

While the sport continues to be plagued by champions reluctant to face stiff competition, Layla McCarter makes it a point to fight the best.  In fact, during her acceptance speech, she mentioned her willingness to go up in weight to take on Cecilia Braekhus, the unified welterweight champion out of Denmark.  Braekhus is represented by K2 Promotions, who have a champion of their own that it is avoided, Gennady Golovkin.  Therefore, McCarter’s dilemma should resonate and the bout gets made in 2017.  Layla even stated after the ceremony that she would lmmove even higher than welterweight, if it meant landing a solid opponent.   It’s refreshing to know that there is a true boxing champion, one who takes no short cuts nor easy outs and that should be music to the ears of fight fans around the world.   Congratulations to Layla McCarter, a 2016 inductee into the California Boxing Hall of Fame.
